Hear
Hear, the new disc by worship
leader and guitarist David Taylor, certainly offers a righteous
collection of Messianic rock. Hear’s themes and words are
taken from Scripture. Like David’s previous record Avodah,
it is a worship album geared towards entering into God’s
presence. Yet, one thing that distinguishes this album from much
that is out there, thematically and musically, is its tension
— a tension between Israel’s present and future
(“For Zion’s Sake,” “If I Forget You”);
between living in this world and living for the next (“Hear”);
between realizing where one has come from, and forgetting what
lies behind, focusing on the Author and Perfecter of our faith
(“Hope in the Lord,” “Kedushah”). Conveying
a Jewish sensibility, and a mature musical vocabulary, this
album’s aim is true, and its goal is Yeshua.
